Charlie Chaplin Speech Of Truth
The result of these comments played a role in getting Charlie Chaplin kicked out of America.
After Limelight, Charlie Chaplin took another vacation to England, wanting to show his new wife and children his native country. Upon leaving the territorial waters of the United States of America, Charlie Chaplin received a cable, informing him that the State Department had rescinded his reentry permit -- effectively locking him out of the country as an undesirable alien. There were many reasons for this -- Charlie Chaplin's unorthodox political views, the false accusation that he was a Communist, and not least of all, money. There would have been an attempt by the federal government to seize Charlie Chaplin's assets, which were enormous. However, his wife Oona returned to the United States, and promptly took all of the liquid assets, as well as liquidating everything she could -- leaving the government without a penny for its' trouble.
Yet Chaplins troubles were not over, as he still refused to change his unorthodox views.
In 1948 Chaplin decided to travel overseas and applied for a re-entry permit in order to return to the United States. The Immigration Department stalled on the application for some weeks and then, when reservations were already made, arrived one day at his home. When the deputation arrived, it consisted of a stenographer, an FBI agent and an immigration officer, who told him that they had the right to demand Chaplins evidence under oath. The unexpected inquisition lasted for four hours and was recorded by the stenographer. It contained personal questions about Chaplins racial origins, political views and sex life. He found the enquiries into his life, thought and opinions most personal, insulting and disgusting. However, they failed to discover any reason to deny him re-entry and had no choice but to grant him the permit. Not to be outdone though, the US Treasury immediately put in a claim for $1 million in taxes and demanded a bond of $1.5 million before he left the country. In any event, Chaplin decided not to leave the country after all.
In 1949 the FBI had a request from the Assistant Attorney-General, Alexander Campbell, for the Chaplin files, since a Security-R investigation was pending. The files were disappointing to him. It has been determined that there are no witnesses available who could offer testimony that Chaplin has been a member of the Communist Party in the past, is now a member, or has contributed funds to the Communist Party. However, the heated paranoia in Government to take action against suspected high profile communists like Chaplin was now beginning to reach fever pitch. It was an open secret that the FBI was monitoring Chaplin night and day for any potential communist activity, but not widely known that they were failing to obtain any incriminating evidence against him.
In 1952, Chaplin sailed to England for the premier of his latest film, Limelight. Before he had arrived at his destination, it was announced that the United States Attorney-General, Judge McGranery, had rescinded Chaplins re-entry permit and ordered the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) to hold him for hearings when or if he attempted to re-enter the country. These hearings, he said, will determine whether he is admissible under the laws of the United States. The Justice Department added that the action was being taken under the US Code of Laws on Aliens and Citizenship, Section 137, Paragraph (c), which permitted the barring of aliens on grounds of morals, health or insanity, or for advocating Communism or associating with Communist or pro-Communist organizations.
When Chaplin arrived in England, after hearing the news en route, he was defiant:
The US Government does not go back on anything it says. It will not go back on my re-entry permit. These are days of turmoil and strife and bitterness. This is not the day of great artists. This the day of politics and Ive never been political. I have no political convictions. Im an individualist and I believe in liberty."

Reports state that Michael Jackson dropped a large-scale lawsuit he had filed in 0-6 against his former accountants. Also being dismissed was the countersuit filed by the firm just one day after Jackson’s initial lawsuit, saying that M-J owed a 1-million-dollar-payment to the firm.

On a warm day some kids are skating by the harbor. Instead of having a policeman on the corner of Linden and North in Reservoir Hill or some other drug ravaged corner the police have a man patrolling the harbor in a vehicle purchased for that purpose. He gets out of his vehicle and starts yelling at kids when he could be busting drug dealers in most any other part of Baltimore. The police will probably have his head for this but the real issue is why do we have cops going after kids at the Harbor while they could be out on corners busting the real bad guys. This story will probably make national news for all the wrong reasons. The sad thing is Baltimore is wasting tax dollars on far worse things than this. Mayor Dixon is now paying for homeless people stay in hotels in the county. In her state of the City address she implied that we are in for a budget crunch and we may not get our promised property tax relief. We need lower property taxes now! Stop voting in the people who refuse to cut our property taxes. There is so much waste in Baltimore City. We need to cut spending and insane services like housing homeless people in hotels in the county. Give the tax payers a break. As average Americans, we work 80,000 hours in a lifetime, or 45 to 55 years. In spite of all the resources and assets we earn, the vast majority of Americans with assets do not take the time to create a Will.
National statistics indicate that 80% of Americans die without leaving a Will. There are several reasons for this: fear of death; procrastination; and misinformation (people presume that only the rich or married with children need to have Wills). Whatever the excuse, it is clear that people would benefit from having a Will.
In the absence of a Will or other legal arrangement to distribute property at death, your partner cannot receive any assets and cannot administer your estate. The result can be lengthy delays and other problems. Individuals in gay or lesbian relationships need properly drafted Wills and estate planning documents more than straight persons. The probate laws generally provide if a person dies without a Will, their property goes to family, rather than a partner they had a relationship with for years or decades.
IF YOU HAVE NO WILL:
If you leave no Will or your Will is declared invalid because it was improperly prepared or is not admissible to probate: * State law determines who gets assets, not you * Additional expenses will be incurred and extra work will be required to qualify an administrator * Possible additional State inheritance taxes and Federal estate taxes * If you have no s Civil Union , spouse, or close relatives the State may take your property * The procedure to distribute assets becomes more complicated-and the law makes no exceptions for persons in unusual need or for your own wishes. * It may also cause fights and lawsuits between your partner and your family When your loved ones are grieving and dealing with death, they shouldn't be overwhelmed with disputes over property and Financial concerns. Careful estate planning helps take care of that.

WHY PERIODIC REVIEW IS ESSENTIAL
Even if you have an existing Will, there are many events that occur which may necessitate changes in your Will. Some of these are:
* Domestic Partnership, Marriage, death, birth, divorce or separation affecting people named in your Will *Significant changes in the value of your total assets or in any particular assets which you own * Changes in your relationships * A change in your State domicile
* Death or incapacity of a beneficiary, or death, incapacity or change in residence of a named executor, or of one of the witnesses to the execution of the Will if the Will is not self- proving
*Annual changes in tax law
MAY I CHANGE MY WILL?
Yes. A Will may be modified, added to, or entirely changed at any time before your death provided you are mentally and physically competent and desire to change your Will. You should consider revising your Will whenever there are changes in the size of your estate. Beware, if you draw lines through items, erase or write over, or add notations to the original Will, it can be destroyed as a legal document. Either a new Will should be legally prepared by an attorney or a Codicil prepared by an attorney signed to legally change portions of the Will.

Wild Elephants of Bandipur - a Young One Too...
A small wild elephant herd grazed and looked coy. So as we quietly observed that, another set joined them from behind - ineffect surrounding the jeep. We kept quiet and spoke in whispers as they formed a big group guarding the young ones in their midst. The young one is probably one month old. The matriarch looks wary of us. These wild elephants are best left unprovoked - although mock attacks are common, it is better not to cause a real one. The young ones are placed in the middle of the herd and guarded well.
Bandipur National Park is located in the Chamarajanagar district of southern Karnataka in South India, and is contiguous with the Mudumalai National Park in the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu, the Wynad Wildlife Sanctuary in Kerala, and the Nagarhole National Park to the northwest.

The nearest airport is in Bangalore. You take the Bangalore - Ooty highway and move towards Gundlupet after Mysore. Bandipur Jungle lodges is at the entrance to the hill and the rest of them, close to the Deputy Conservators office, ahead. The distance is 220 kms.
I preferred Jungle lodges, a Government of India enterprise, as it is not as expensive as Cicada and has more trees and foliage covering than the latter. Budget resorts are too risky. Country club membership is necessary to know further about their facilities. Travelling by private cab costs INR 10-15/km and total travel time is 5 hours.

The forest is classified as Category II by International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources. You find 'threatened' and 'near threatened' species under the Union's classification, in the reserve.
